Located in Palabana, Zambia, Zaninge is a 100% Zambian-owned company that was founded in 2024. At Makamo, we also prepare jams, pastes, and juices from local wild fruits. As part of Makamo’s zero-waste strategy, every component of the fruit is recycled. The fruit powder is processed into Mabuyu juice, the baobab seeds are pressed into a premium, non-greasy oil for skin and hair care, and the shells are made into eco-friendly charcoal briquettes that our company utilises as fuel. In order to prevent deforestation, certain seeds are also set aside for the replanting of baobab trees. Our plant has given Zambians, especially women and young people, stable work in addition to providing a convenient marketplace for women to sell wild fruits.
